Drywall Repair Service Areas Around Harrison, NJ
We repair, hang and finish drywall in Harrison and the towns around it. Each visit starts with what your walls are actually made of, because plaster over lath, half-inch gypsum board and moisture-resistant board each need a different repair before the surface is smooth and ready for paint.

Towns we cover from Harrison
Most of our work is in Harrison, East Newark and Kearny, a short drive from where we start the day. We also take jobs in Newark, Jersey City and Elizabeth, where many calls come from landlords and property managers dealing with ceiling stains, cracked stairwell walls or holes left behind by a tenant.
To the west we work in East Orange, Orange, Irvington, Bloomfield and Belleville. Homes a little past that list are often within reach too. Tell us your town on the call, and we will give you a straight answer on whether we can fit the job in.
What we find inside walls across the area
- 01
Older homes and plaster
A large share of houses and apartment buildings in this part of New Jersey were built before gypsum board took over, so the material behind a damaged spot is frequently plaster set on wood strips or metal mesh. Plaster is harder and thicker than gypsum board, and a patch has to be shimmed to sit flush with it. Where a later renovation joined the two materials in one room, that transition seam is usually the first place a crack appears.
- 02
Seasonal movement
Studs and ceiling joists soak up moisture during muggy months, then give it back once the heat runs all winter. That back-and-forth movement shows up as nail pops, split tape joints and hairline cracks running off door and window corners. We reset fasteners with screws, re-tape with paper or fiberglass mesh depending on the joint, and use setting-type compound where a crack keeps coming back.
- 03
Choosing the right board
Bathrooms and basements get moisture- and mold-resistant board instead of standard gypsum. Walls that code treats as fire separations, such as between an attached garage and living space, get fire-rated Type X board. We explain the trade-offs in weight, cost and handling before anything is hung.
- 04
Textured ceilings
Older ceilings may carry a sand finish, knockdown or popcorn texture. We sample the texture on a scrap first so the ceiling repair blends in, then finish with a paint touch-up over the patched area. On older acoustic texture we ask about its age before disturbing it, since some may need testing first.

Permits
Patching and small repairs generally do not need a permit. Replacing whole walls or ceilings can fall under the town construction office, and rules differ from place to place. When a permit applies, we tell you before work starts and explain the inspection steps.

Tell us what your wall is made of
Describe the damage and the room when you call, and we will talk through which material and repair suit it and what moves the cost. Floors get covered before we start, and dust and scraps go out with us when we pack up.
